Terrible, terrible show.

November 13, 2011

Mom, don’t look at these pictures.

The History Channel has a show about truckers that drive treacherous roads, and though I only saw four minutes of one, I believe it should be banned. I’ve shown you the road on the way to my parents where they don’t have a guard rail in a couple of semi-dangerous spots, but there are at least two lanes and you can move over, and I’m not driving a semi.

I think for this show they were in Bolivia?

They have to have cameras hanging off the trucks for these shots, right?

Ice Road Truckers?

I felt super queasy during this shot.

When I was a kid I would have a recurring nightmare where the whole family was in our station wagon and we were driving up a radio tower. The angle was nearly perpendicular to the ground, and I would hold my breath – knowing that the car was going to topple backwards, plummeting my family to their death.

Happy Monday, everyone! No charge for the terrible thoughts!

Do you suppose the center of gravity is different for big trucks like that? Maybe they can get closer to the edge of a road than normal vehicles could. Would it make you feel better if that were true?

When we were at Lake Como, the roads were very narrow & windy & scary! I got sick driving thru there.

And I now realize I have a major problem. Is there nothing that doesn’t remind me of Lucy? Apparently not.

Remember the time we took the “Land’s End” road up the side of the Grand Mesa?
You were convinced that we would come to the end of the land and fall off!
    You were very young then.
