Happy Settlers of Walking

The weeny tree is up! It’s a $20 Target tree purchased years ago because it turns out I just don’t care about having a nice tree. I used to try and stuff garland in between the branches to make it look less spindly, but I’ve come to embrace it’s Charlie Brown-ness. In fact, as it turns out, anything looks awesome with lights. (or painted gold) Hmmmm…..a gold tree…..

Sorry.

When I put up the tree I thought about moving the treadmill out of the corner, but it turns out that it won’t fit anywhere else in our little house. So, when life gives you unused treadmills, make crazy treadmill decorations! That’s the bear from my childhood, some extra decorations from John and Kate’s wedding, and don’t you think Lloyd’s Settlers of Catan board makes a lovely holiday addition?

Oh, cheapy tree, oh cheapy tree, I purchased you so frugally.

He who goes to bed last is first to post! And, yes Brad, it’s dark!

We have a $30 Wal-Mart special that’s been a good friend. I have visions of something larger but also no place to put it. This year, we’re going to try to find a way to put it on the main level, which will require moving furniture.

    Before we leave the country.

    Tomorrow morning. Hmmm.

Suddenly I feel like I was crazy for spending $60 on my tree from Hobby Lobby. But it fits in the corner perfectly and is the exact fullness for my taste.

And we didn’t even spend it! It was a gift from my sister-in-law when we were in grad school and didn’t plan to get a tree!

Our problem is the our corner upstairs got a computer in it. Computers can pop up anywhere in our house.

By the way, I did slide a piece of furniture over, so the kids can now put up a tree. I’ll post a photo of it before we leave (if they actually do it, that is).

I got our tree at Target, too! For $12. It was on the 90% clearance table 5 years ago. I’m a total clearance junkie.

I was thinking of going to IKEA for that extra little something to complete our Christmas decorations. I’m sure they’ll have it.

I like your arrangement! We always cut down a tree & my kids always pick a ginormous one so it needs lots of decorations which is a problem because all my Christmas balls were broke in a terrible accident. I was thinking about going with white lights & red & gold balls. Could you put some gold (use the spray paint if necessary)on your tree & one of those big bows on top with the streamers that weave in the branches all the way down so I can see if that’s the look I really want? Thanks you in advance …

I actually have red and gold balls on the tree, but they’re hard to see. I don’t have a bow with streamers, but would you settle for some bathrobe belts?

[...] Dang it, if Lauren didn’t post at night _I_ would have been the first to post a picture of a Christmas tree. [...]
