I am working on an art order for school. When we ordered shelves for the new classroom, Discount School Supply had to make a switch (dumb long story) and now we have a credit with them. Usually each classroom orders their own art supplies, but this year we can use the credit to stock everybody up. I am ordering gallons of paint to re-fill the little bottles, construction paper (which I am actually quite miserly with) and that’s about it. I looked at getting liquid watercolors for everyone, because I love the stuff, but the price has nearly doubled since I last bought it. $4 for 8 ounces.
Hmmmmm….. am I really just paying for water? I feel the same way about laundry soap and dishwasher detergent. Give me the powder – I’m not paying for water.
Brad, where are your watercolor paints?
Here they are.
I may have used too much water for the amount of paint, but I think I may have a quick fix for the paint situation.
… or not. We’ll see.
Brad says
Isn’t tempera paint sold as powder? That’s not the same as watercolor paint though…
I’ll be curious to see if this works out for you. It seems like a reasonable expectation that those watercolor chunks mixed with water would produce paint.

I haven’t tested it, but it’s all dissolved now and there is a white residue at the bottom of the bottle. That must be some kind of binder? I’d be interested to try this with new watercolor paint chunks.
Lauren's mom says
Isn’t there a lot of water in Pepsi? So…aren’t you buying water? 🙂 🙂
Lauren says
Ouch! The truth! 😉
