Lauren, Lloyd

Another year - like in prison.

The sixteenth hash mark is done!  We were so busy around our actual anniversary that there was no time to take our rings to Sartor Hamman, but I took them in two Saturdays ago while Lloyd was busy buying his auction stuff, and we picked them up this Saturday with his parents.

Dropping them off was a little funny. (It’s no rinky-dink place, but a very nice jewelry store in Lincoln.)

Saleslady: Can I help you?
Lauren: I’m here to get our wedding rings engraved. We get these hash marks….?
Saleslady: Mr. Sommerer?
Lauren: Huh?

Her daughter had attended Lincoln Lutheran so she knew Lloyd, and apparently we are the only people who return to their store for hash marks. Lloyd thinks he’s got it made – I’m the only wife who is happy to have gold taken away as a present!

I just re-read last year’s post about the slash, and Peggy had a comment requesting a wedding photo.  I never obliged, so here you go.  (My advice for any formal picture taking: Get a jazz-hands pose.  It will be your favorite.)

Did the saleslady really call you Mr. Sommerer? I don’t think your beard is anywhere near as thick as Lloyd’s.

    Happy anniversary!

How much does a hashmark cost?

We bought a house on our first anniversary and figure that covers us for any kind of present for 30 years. But when we hit 31, then I’m expecting big things!
