Tonight was spent fighting sleep and agonizing over what kind of camera to get. We did some test shots with the Fuji, and they just don’t look that great. The quest continues….
So I was looking back in the old photo files and realized I never showed these awesome nesting bowls from my Mom. They’re adorable! They’re measuring bowls, but so cute that they live on my countertop. The cool part is that they have a line inside that shows the half-measure. I’ve been using them to make my cream of wheat in the morning (yes, I’m actually liking it now). One cup of water and fill the 1/4 cup to the 1/8 line. Handy dandy! Thank you, Mom!

Yeah, this was written earlier in the week and posted it, then I changed it so it would post tonight as we were traveling. I was going to have changed the intro in time, too, if it weren’t for you meddling kids.

I don’t know how many times I’ve resisted sets of nesting bowls like that; big sets of mixing bowls, little sets of sauce bowls… I don’t cook enough to justify their purchase. I would cook more, but you know… cereal is so easy… Hey! Maybe I could get a set of nesting cereal bowls!

Beth – I got them from a friend who works with “Entertaining at Home” They are Mario Batali measuring prep bowls. There is a site online called Shopwiki.com – or I think Target sometimes has them. Don’t think they come in red. Creme, pesto green, etc.
UPDATE: So, we’re in Kansas City because the City of Lincoln Lutheran choir had a concert last night and we’re also on our way to the annual February Sommerer Get-Together that’s today (Saturday). It’s another 2 – 2 1/2 hours from K.C. to Honeycreek, and if we would have tried to drive the whole way last night we wouldn’t have made it.
Brad, regarding the nesting bowls, I have big trouble resisting them, too. Especially the seven-different-color melamine variety. Resist!!! Resistance!!! (Anyone willing to take up the joke?)

Dang, you’ve awaken that scarey place in me…next to my love of spoons, is my love of bowls. I only ‘mix’ in clear bowls, preferably Arcoroc glass, clear, no designs or tinting, & of course they must be stackable. I do not own any stainless steel or melamine bowls, don’t like them (judge me as you will). All other bowls, except cereal bowls & outside summer bowls, must be either ceramic or glass. Here’s a set I’ve longed for, but have resisted:

hehehe, your comment cracked me up… I meant bowls for cook outs…for salads, chips, vegt., whatever…then I’ll use melamine or plastic bowls.
